How to make Sweet Pulao ?

Bengali food is many a types mistaken for the spice and extra flavors that is contained in it. Like many other food there are various sweet dishes that can suitable for people all over the world. Bengali Sweet Pulao is one such dish that can be the favorite of people of all ages. It called ‘Mishti Pulao’ in Bengali. However, this is a main course dish and not a dessert. It does not have any spice added to it, but is extremely tasty and goes very well with a hot and spicy side dish. Let us know look at the recipe of this dish.


· 2 cups of Basmati Rice, washed and soaked for half an hour

· 3 tablespoons of Ghee

· 2 pieces of bay leaves

· 4-5 cardamom pods, broken

· 1 cinnamon stick

· 1 tablespoon of sugar

· ½ table spoon of turmeric powder

· 10 pieces of Cashew Nuts

· 10 pieces of Raisins

· 2 sliced Onions

· Salt to taste

Method of Preparation

Heat the ghee in a non-stick pan having a deep bottom. When the ghee becomes warm, add the sliced onions to it and fry them for about 10 minutes. When the onions becomes crisp, strain them well and put them aside. Now to the same ghee add all the dry fruits, the raisins and the cashew nuts. Sauté this mixture of around 2 minutes on a medium flame till they turn a good color. Now strain them and put them separately. Now, to the ghee left in the pan fry the bay eaves, cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks for some time. Sauté this mixture for about a minute and then add the sugar to it. Now add the turmeric powder and stir all the ingredients well so that all are of the same color.

Add the rice and salt and 3 cups of water and cook the stuff for 10 minutes. When it is cooked take them out and garnish with the dry fruits and onions.

Preparation time: 20 minutes
