19th International Film Festival Of Kerala ( IFFK 2014 ) to be held in December

Kerala Chalachitra Academy has recently announced the dates regarding the 19th International Film Festival Of Kerala. The event is set to take place in the city of Trivandrum from 12 to 29th December. The film festival has earned praise for its selection of movies, award categories and an appreciating audience. This year too, the festival will look to deliver the very best of cinema from all over the world to the audience members. The first ever IFFK was held in 1996 by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation. In 1998, the organizing responsibility went to the Kerala Chalachitra Academy.

The main categories of the festival are- New Malayalam Cinema, Contemporary World Cinema, Contemporary Indian Cinema, Retrospectives of Major filmmakers, Homage and Tributes, Short films and Documentaries . Seminars will also be organized on various important issues related Cinema during the festival. This year will see the launch of a new category- Asian, African and Latin American films. The major awards given during the festival are, the Golden Crow Pheasant Award, the Silver Crow Pheasant Award, Best Debut Film Award, FIPRESCI Award and Netpac Awar. A new award category is also being added and it is for the Best Debutant Foreign Director. The films of the festival will be shown across various cinema halls of Trivandrum.
